7 Lobster recipes to try this summer with Maine lobster

Love lobster? Maine lobster is famous — and delicious. And these seven lobster recipes are perfect for transforming our favorite crustaceans into something deliciously different. Lobster Recipes Did you know that August is Maine Lobster Month? It is. That’s because it’s peak harvest season for lobsters, who’ve recently molted and are closer to the shores than ever — or so the Maine Lobster Marketing Collaborative tells me.

What I do know for sure is that even reporters in Sacramento, California, are thinking about Maine lobster these days — I had a call from one earlier who wanted to know if lobster rolls are really a thing here. I told him yes — but there are so many ways to enjoy lobster here in Maine. (McLaughlin’s Lobster Macaroni and Cheese, anyone? If you haven’t had it, try it. Amazing.)

He also wanted to know if there can ever be enough lobster. Um, this lobster lovin’ girl had to say no. There’s never enough.

I think that’s why I am so excited about these lobster recipes …

Perfect Lobster Rolls

IGTJoeFish_2014_4468 It’s no secret that Mainers have a love affair with lobstah (and those from away have a love affair with Maine lobsters — I mean, can we blame them?). Next time you’re craving that perfect Maine lobster roll, dressed with mayo, why not make it at home? Maris Callahan of In Good Taste has a great tutorial for making an unforgettable lobster roll.

Lobster Tom Kha

lobster-tom-kha-2 A Thai curry lobster dish? Genius. This soup has a satisfying sweet-hot flavor that characterizes Thai curry — and its literally packed with lobster. Even more genius though is the name and tag line of the blog this hails from. From Away: The Way Food Should Be. (Hat tip to Malcolm and Jillian — I am from away too.)

Lobster Tacos with Avocado Salsa

Lobster-Tacos-with-Avocado-Salsa (1) Next time Taco Tuesday rolls around, give your tacos a crustacean makeover by trading the beef, chicken or fish for sweet, fresh lobster. Served with a fresh Avocado Salsa (oh, those decadently creamy avocados!), this has “perfect summer dinner” written all over it.

Lobster Tail Fra Diavolo with Zucchini Noodles

IMG_1636-copy (1) Lobster combines with tomatoes, garlic, shallots and more in this deliciously different lobster dish. Mildly spicy, this “pasta” dish hits all the right notes. See what I did there? It’s not really pasta but zucchini noodles cut with the oh-so-cool spiralizer. So low-carb devotees and those with gluten-intolerance can enjoy this too. Score.

Beer and Butter Poached Lobster with Saison Risotto

Beer-and-Butter-Poached-Lobster-with-Saison-Risotto-680x1024 A beer-laced risotto and a beer and butter poached lobster? Oh, be still my heart. Sounds like creamy, sweet, buttery, beery heaven, if you ask me.

Lobster Salad with Avocado, Feta and Lemon Vinaigrette

Lobster Avocado Feta Salad 3This salad is one of my very favorite things to whip up in summertime. While lobster back in Connecticut, where I lived for more than a decade, was almost always bathed in butter, this fresh citrusy take on it is both refreshing and satisfying. And the creamy avocado? It makes a good thing even better.

Lobster Club Sandwich

Lobster Club Sandwich Lobster meat with mayo, tomato, lettuce, provolone and … of course! … bacon. You can’t argue with the simple deliciousness of this Maine sandwich.
